XP partners with Nasdaq to launch cryptocurrency trading platform

XP Investimentos announced this Thursday, 12, a partnership with Nasdaq to create a cryptocurrency trading platform. XTAGE is expected to be officially launched by the end of the first half of this year, the official press release said.

XTAGE will be fully integrated into XP’s operating ecosystem – the 3.5 million customers registered with the company will have access to the trading platform through the broker’s application. At first, XTAGE will offer the purchase and sale service of the two largest cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization: Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). In the future, other crypto assets should be made available to customers, according to information from XP.

The initiative aims to democratize access to the cryptocurrency market in Brazil, highlighted Lucas Rabechini, director of financial products at XP, through the statement:

“At XP, we are driven by our mission to democratize access to investments, providing investors with an expanded and diversified portfolio of financial products that are at the forefront of global innovation.”

The XTAGE infrastructure will be provided by Nasdaq, explained Nasdaq Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Market Infrastructure Roland Chai:

“We are pleased to partner with XP as they advance their digital asset strategy. The technology partnership between Nasdaq and XP is a key pillar in its expansion into digital assets and will open up new opportunities for investors.”

Nasdaq is also involved in the project to launch a carbon credits trading exchange in partnership with the state government and the city hall of Rio de Janeiro, as reported by Cointelegraph Brasil recently.
