Vasco da Gama put on sale, this Monday (24), the first ticket of its series of digital collectibles, in the format of NFTs (non-fungible tokens). According to the club, digital tickets cost R$10. However, they do not give access to the games.

The team was the first to launch a token that pays for the clubs’ right of solidarity, that is, values they receive on trades from some players. Additionally, on the 18th, it announced Fan Token $VASCO on Socios.com, a fan engagement platform and rewards app.

Football clubs are, one by one, creating ways to monetize cryptocurrencies. In the case of tickets, in early January, SĂŁo Paulo Futebol Clube (SPFC) said that it will be the first football team in the world that will accept cryptocurrency when purchasing tickets.. The expectation is that this will be possible in the Paulista Championship. This is part of a deal with Mexican crypto exchange Bitso, the club’s new sponsor.

Vasco is selling the ticket token through platform vasco.tibs.app. This first refers, therefore, to the match against Volta Redonda next Wednesday (26), for Carioca 2022. “At the end of the championship, fans who complete the collection will receive discounts at official Vasco stores and will unlock a new item of the collection,” said the club.

Vasco will give rewards to those who buy NFTs

The project is in partnership with Block4, which presents itself as a fantech. “The idea is to disseminate the use of this technology for the most varied digital collectibles. It can be an image, a video, audio, 3D, a text or all these contents together. In the digital market, these elements become accessible to everyone, mainly due to their value”, says Thiago Canellas, CEO of Block4.

“We continue with the mission of engaging and making our fans feel closer to the club. We experimented and implemented the collectible ticket idea last season. For this year, looking at it in an intelligent and innovative way, we improved the shape of these collectibles, says RogĂ©rio Portugal, from Vasco’s Marketing and New Business Department.

Vasco and Block4 did not say, however, how many NFTs are available. To be truly NFT, a basic point is for the token to be collectible, rare or in a very limited edition.
