USP partners with Radio Caca and will be the first Brazilian public university in the metaverse

The University of Sao Paulo announced this Friday, 27th, that it has signed a partnership with the United States of Mars, USM (formerly called Radio Caca, BREED). The partnership is an international cooperation agreement that aims to promote research on applications and technical, economic and legal aspects of the metaverse.

As part of the partnership, USP received land in the USM metaverse, as a NFT and, according to USP professor Marcos A. Simplicio Jr., this is the first time that USP has received an NFT as part of its heritage. Also according to the professor, USP intends to build different spaces for interaction with and between users (students, professors, researchers, visitors, etc.).

The institution revealed that the partnership will initially take place in collaboration with researchers from an agreement already signed, the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), which is sponsored by the company Ripple and is based at the Polytechnic School.

“It is a great honor for us at RACA to have USP, the largest public university in Latin America, within the USM Metaverso. Together we will build new experiences that can unlock the full potential of Web3 for people. That’s our goal, to build an open metaverse focused on user freedom.”

According to USP the institution plans to carry out metaverse research in different areas and highlights as an example research in the areas of education and psychology that can assess learning and behavior in classes and interactions carried out in this environment.

“It is a very interesting opportunity for any USP researcher interested in the “Metaverse” theme to carry out their research using such a platform”, concludes Simplicio.

Metaverse

Recently the rapper, French Montana, whose single “Unforgettable” (featuring Swae Lee) reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, has announced that he has become a co-founder of Radio Caca (RACA) and with that also announced its official entry into the metaverse.

Montana’s entry into the metaverse followed other musicians seeking exposure to the new digital environment, such as fellow rapper Snoop Dogg who announced a partnership with The Sandbox (SAND).
