The State Duma obliged candidates in the elections to report on the purchase of cryptocurrency

MOSCOW, 23 Mar — PRIME. The State Duma adopted a law obliging election participants to disclose information about their expenses for the acquisition of digital financial assets (DFA) and digital currency.

The document amends the laws on the election of the President of the Russian Federation and State Duma deputies, the procedure for forming the Federation Council, political parties, combating corruption, monitoring the compliance of government officials’ expenses with their income, on basic guarantees of electoral rights and the right to participate in a referendum of citizens of the Russian Federation in connection with the adoption of the law “On digital financial assets, digital currency and on amendments to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation”.

The law obliges candidates participating in elections to provide information about their expenses, expenses of their spouse (spouse) and minor children for each transaction for the acquisition of CFA and digital currency for the last three years, if the transaction amount exceeds the total income of the candidate and his wife (spouse) for three years prior to the deal. At the same time, information about the sources of funds for such a transaction should also be provided.

The law should come into force 10 days after its official publication.
