A Liqi, asset tokenization platform, and the Coritiba Foot Ball Club do Paraná started today (26) the sale of the Coritiba Token – Piás do Couto. The cryptoactive is linked to the Solidarity Mechanism, that is, to the revenue from player transfers that the club formed. The goal is to generate new revenue.

There will be 33,700 tokens at the initial value of R$17.50, therefore, with a 30% discount for first investors on the full value of R$25. Although the goals of clubs that launch tokens are to have extra revenue, they create an engagement of fans with the promise of return.

That’s because the solidarity mechanism of the International Football Federation (Fifa) establishes that up to 5% of each player’s transfer throughout his career, he must return to the club that formed him between 12 and 23 years of age. As it is a token that only pays on transfers, it has some built-in risk.

In the case of Coritiba, 200 players underwent an assessment of expected future revenue through the mechanism. Among them are, for example, Luiz Gabriel Fonseca (Biel), Bernardo Lemes, Eduardo Aquino Cossa (Pepê), Yan Couto, Matheus Cunha and Igor Jesus.

The club claims to have around 1.5 million fans. Currently, he disputes the Series B of the Brazilian Championship in 2021. But, he was the first Brazilian Champion in the state, in 1985.

“We are living in a new phase. They are big clubs allowing alternatives, many of them, through technology, to contribute to the growth and approximation of fans with the teams”, says Daniel Coquieri, CEO and founder of the startup.

“We carry the title of greatest state winner and the most traditional club in the capital of Paraná. In addition, we are known for revealing athletes from the youth categories for the main team and other great teams”, says Juarez Moraes, president of Coritiba.

The negotiation of the Santos token, which also uses the solidarity mechanism of the International Football Federation (Fifa), went on sale yesterday (26). The launch of the São Paulo fan token will be next Monday (3). Other teams with tokens include, for example, Corinthians and Cruzeiro.
