Cryptocurrency is a kind of surrogate, there are no exact statistics on its use, Elena Perminova, the first deputy head of the budget committee of the Federation Council, told RIA Novosti, adding that she agrees with the position of the Russian government on non-recognition of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment in the Russian Federation.
Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, during the government’s report to the State Duma, noted that the Cabinet of Ministers is against the recognition of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment in the Russian Federation, like the Central Bank, it is necessary to seriously work on regulating their turnover. Mishustin also noted that more than 10 million Russians have crypto wallets, over 10 trillion rubles were transferred there.
“I agree with the government’s position against recognizing cryptocurrencies as a means of payment in the Russian Federation. There are no exact statistics on them,” the parliamentarian said.
According to the senator, cryptocurrency is a kind of “surrogate”. Perminova noted that, as an economist, she was used to conservative currencies.
At the same time, the legislator believes that the use of cryptocurrencies in the Russian Federation should be regulated so that all processes that occur on the territory of our country are regulated by Russian law.
