Bitso, a cryptocurrency platform operating for a year in Brazil, announced the executive Thales Araújo de Freitas as the company’s new country manager in the country. The executive was in the same role at Global66, an international transfer company in Chile.

Thales will be responsible for driving Bitso’s strategy in Brazil, a market that attracts more and more players. The goal is to expand usability with the digital financial ecosystem, accessibility and security of crypto assets, according to a company statement.

Having worked at companies such as Citibank and HSBC, Thales has been in the financial market, B2B technology and fintechs for over 15 years, specializing in business development and management in emerging segments.

“Brazil is going through a transformative moment in the adoption of cryptocurrencies on a large scale and, in the last year, Bitso played an essential role in this movement”, comments Thales Freitas, Country Manager of Bitso in Brazil.

Until then, the CEO and founder of Bitso, Daniel Vogel, was interim in the position. That’s because in August 2021, Marcos Jarne left the role after ten months.

Bitso has more than 4 million customers and competes with the Mercado Bitcoin for the position of largest broker in Latin America. The company operates, in particular, with three products: Bitso App, an intuitive application for those who want to buy, sell, send or receive cryptocurrencies; Bitso Alpha, a professional-grade cryptocurrency trading platform; and Bitso Business, international solutions for companies to succeed in a global digital economy.
