Neymar really joined the nascent culture of NFTs and this Tuesday, the 19th, he acquired an item from the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection for 55 ETH (approximately BRL 800,000).
The Mutant Ape Yacht Club is a spin-off collection of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, from which Neymar has two NFTs acquired in January for approximately R$ 5 million. Both collections were created by Yuga Labs and are among the most popular and profitable in the cryptocurrency industry.
Initially, the collection was created with 10,000 tokens that could be minted by anyone interested during the launch, which took place in August of last year. Within an hour, all the NFTs had been generated, yielding more than $100 million in total.
In parallel, the company created an NFT entitled Serum, which was offered to all Bored Apes holders. From this kind of digital “potion” it was possible to generate a new NFT with a mutated version of the original monkey.
Although they may reach 20,000, today the collection has 18,711 NFTs in circulation, as not all Serums were used by those who own them.
