ZURICH, May 11 – PRIME. One of the largest operators of data centers for cryptocurrency mining, the Russian company BitRiver, which fell under US sanctions in April this year, is considering filing a lawsuit against the US Treasury Department, the company told RIA Novosti.

“BitRiver is considering the possibility of preparing and filing a lawsuit against the US Treasury Department, which has announced personal sanctions to the entire group of companies of the largest Russian data center operator. BitRiver is confident that the actions of the US department cause direct reputational harm to the company and its international business, since the accusations do not reasonable,” the company said.

BitRiver believes that there are no legal grounds for imposing restrictions, and intends to demand delisting.

“BitRiver is not a government agency, but a 100% private company that in no way helps the Russian Federation to circumvent sanctions. BitRiver also intends to charge the US Treasury with unfair competition and lobbying for the US mining industry that violates the rules of the World Trade Organization,” the company added.

In turn, BitRiver CEO Igor Runets called the actions of the US Treasury “an attempt to change the global balance of power in favor of US companies and remove the largest Russian player from the market.”

At the same time, the company said that all enterprises, production sites and offices of BitRiver in Russia are operating normally. In addition, the company continues to provide services to international clients who have confirmed their intention to continue cooperation with BitRiver.

Western countries have introduced several packages of sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the situation in Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the policy of containment and weakening of Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and the sanctions dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. He added that current events draw a line under the global dominance of the West in both politics and economics. According to him, Russia is not going to isolate itself, it cannot be strictly isolated in the modern world.
