Mayor Ernestos Paraqueima, from the city of El Tigre, in the south-eastern area of Venezuela, recently pointed out in an exclusive interview to Cointelegraph Español his intentions to use technology blockchain in the management of its management governmental.
Paraqueima, who was elected in the last elections in November for a 4-year term for the second time, declared to this medium that they have heard proposals to implement the use of the blockchain during their management, as support for the administrative tasks that occur naturally in the town hall, including from document management to payment of public services.
For the mayor citizen, this is part of the “radical change in the public field supported by blockchain “, Therefore, he has indicated as a way to encourage the arrival of proposals from national or foreign actors that carry out this change, the Municipal tax exemption for four years to all those technology companies that come to the city to generate solutions of this type.
Likewise, the highest local authority of this oil city, reported that the tax exemption is also aimed at those technology companies that wish to invent in their jurisdiction, as a way to encourage the “tools necessary for the technological implementation of solutions that support the common citizen ”.
Although there is still no concrete plan for the implementation of the technology in the region, the mayor pointed out that they are receiving proposals from renowned private actors in the industry to carry out the respective study and analysis process for its implementation, in accordance with the local controls provided by the respective laws.
If decentralized government management is implemented, El Tigre would be the first city in Venezuela and one of the few in the region of Latin America in relying on the blockchain for transparent management and verifiable from the public resources of a governmental entity.
