The Lisbon Blockchain Conference 3.0, held at the Nova School of Business & Economics on Friday, May 12, 2023, was an exceptional gathering of blockchain enthusiasts, experts, and trailblazers. Organized by the Nova Blockchain Club, the event welcomed over 400 attendees, 40+ eminent speakers, and 20+ innovative companies shaping the blockchain landscape.

Lisbon has emerged as one of the world’s most dynamic hubs for web3 and technology. With an active community of blockchain and web3 professionals, the city hosts weekly web3 meetups and an array of blockchain and tech conferences throughout the year, including the annual Web Summit.

The Lisbon Blockchain Conference 3.0 proved to be a melting pot of ideas, innovation, and collaboration. It brought together a diverse set of stakeholders from academia, industry, and policy-making bodies, all united by their passion for blockchain technology and its potential to transform the world.

The diverse range of topics covered at the conference, from the intersection of blockchain, sustainability, and health, to the future of finance, NFTs, and the role of cryptocurrencies in the global economy, demonstrated the breadth and depth of the impact of this technology.

The Conference was not only an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in blockchain technology but also a platform for participants to network with like-minded individuals and organizations. The enthusiasm of the participants, both speakers and attendees, was palpable, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic blockchain community that has developed in Lisbon.

The conference was divided into eight compelling panel events, each addressing a critical aspect of blockchain technology. Each panel comprised industry leaders who shared their insights and experiences to enlighten attendees.

The first panel, “How Blockchain is Revolutionizing Health and Sustainability Through Secure Data Management,” was moderated by Alan Laubsch, the founder of Generation Blue. Panelists discussed how blockchain technology is transforming industries by enabling secure and efficient data management.

The second panel, “Defi Wars: A New Hope for Decentralized Finance,” was moderated by Diogo Costa, Marketing Manager at Ankr. The panelists explored the evolving landscape of decentralized finance and its potential to redefine the financial industry.

The third panel, “The End of Cash? How CBDCs Could Change the Face of Money Forever,” was moderated by Rita Soares, Head of Payment Innovation and Policy Division at the Bank of Portugal. Speakers discussed the potential of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) to revolutionize monetary systems globally.

The fourth panel, “The Role of NFTs in Building the Next Digital Frontier,” moderated by Tomas Damas Nunes, PR Manager at Bitget, explored the burgeoning NFT market and its role in shaping the digital economy.

The fifth panel, “Redefining Identity in the Blockchain Era,” moderated by Miguel Correia, Professor at the Instituto Superior Technico, delved into how blockchain technology is impacting identity verification and privacy.

The sixth panel, “The Wolf of Crypto Street: How Institutions and Retail Traders are Shaping the Future of Crypto Trading,” moderated by Luiza Castro Rey, Head of Business and Web3 at Fio Legal, examined the evolving role of institutional and retail traders in the cryptocurrency market.

The seventh panel, “Ready Player One: The Intersection of NFTs, Gaming and Decentralized Finance,” moderated by Ronald Shepherd, Advisor/Consultant for AR, VR, Metaverse, and Games, explored the exciting intersection of gaming, NFTs, and DeFi.

The final panel, “Blockchain Community Building in Lisbon,” moderated by Alex Pisarevski, Founder of Epic Web3, featured a discussion on the growing blockchain community in Lisbon and its role in promoting blockchain adoption and innovation.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Fred Antunes, CEO of RealFevr, discussing Decentralized AI, and Petrix Barbosa, Chief Strategy Officer of Match Chain, highlighting Match’s collaborative approach to decentralized social graph technology.
