Carlos Capps, leader of the Retail, Consumer, Health and farming from IBM Consulting for Latin America stated that a continuous digital transformation mindset that includes blockchain is necessary.
Capps pointed this out in the context of an IBM report showing a rebound in travel, experience and shopping consumption for the holiday season.
Concerns related to the pandemic are hampering the return of the traditional shopping season and signal a larger family budget allocated for travel and local activities, according to the findings of a new study of global consumers, published by IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV).
The global survey of more than 13,000 adults in 9 countries, including Brazil and Mexico, found that many people are still carefully considering the safety of socializing, shopping and traveling, and many respondents continue to make decisions from a place of caution.
“In many ways, the challenges facing brands and retailers in 2021 are greater than those facing the industry when the pandemic began. The impact of Covid-19 was an immediate shock to the sector and they were all in the same boat. With the continued uncertainty of the consumer, those who innovate and differentiate themselves with a multichannel strategy are ahead of the rest “, commented Carlos Capps, leader of the Retail, Consumer, Health and Agriculture industries of IBM Consulting for Latin America.
“It is necessary to maintain a mindset of continuous digital transformation and to use automation, artificial intelligence, blockchain and hybrid cloud technologies in favor of the customer experience,” he added later.
