Colombian Unicorn announces the acquisition of a Brazilian remittance company for 229 million dollars


The payment platform colombian EBANX announced on December 15, 2021 that it has acquired the Brazilian company Remessa Online for 229 million dollars, as announced in a press release to Cointelegraph Español.

With this acquisition, the fintech EBANX expanded its portfolio and shortened the path to establish itself as one of the largest payments companies in Latin America, managing to reinforce cross-border services in the region.

The company Brazilian Remessa Online founded in 2016, has a presence in more than 100 countries thanks to the incorporation of blockchain technology in its cross-border payment connection that has benefited more than 350 thousand people.

The agreement reached between the two parties establishes that the founders of the company Remessa Online continue to lead the new EBANX remittance division, ensuring that they will now have a much larger number of clients before the acquisition.

Although they also announced that the online conversion process will continue with the partnership with Nubank, a partnership that they recently established with one of the largest digital banks in the world.
