The Christ the Redeemer, which has just celebrated 90 years of its inauguration, will have its cryptocurrency. The information was given by Father Omar Cardoso, rector of the Cristo Redentor Sanctuary, to the newspaper O Globo. Without giving further details about crypto, he stated that it is the 2030 Agenda, that is, that it is connected with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN).

The sanctuary’s agenda also includes an action that is at least curious for a church, which is the launch of Cachaça Redentor. And initiatives such as lighting fixtures, jewelry, stuffed animals, games and image licensing, according to the interview with O Globo.

In relation to the SDGs, the Catholic Church created an investment fund with R$ 30 million and 26 shareholders.

In addition to the Christ the Redeemer cryptocurrency, also in commemoration of the statue, the Mint of Brazil, in partnership with the marketing company Equipe Groop, created the “Cristo Tran$forma”. The piece is produced with bills that would otherwise be discarded. All are numbered and QR Code for traceability of origin and buyer registration. There will be 800 units and the pre-sale of 700 starts, O Cristo Tran$forma will have a limited edition in 800 of them starting tomorrow (15).
