Within the framework of the 5th. edition of Blockchain Summit Latam, to start on its third day the event opened its agenda with the panel “Tokens UBI y Proof Humanity”, In which Cristóbal Pereira was present as moderator and Santiago Siri and Federico Ast as speakers on the subject.
The central axis of the communicative exchange focused on publicizing the recent projects of Tokens UBI y Proof of Humanity of which Santiago and Federico are part. During the presentation of the subject, they explained what each one is about and how they are related to each other, in addition, they gave an account of what they expect in the future from these recently launched projects.
Today, six months since its launch Proof of Humanity, which translated into Spanish means “Humanity Test”, has approximately 10,000 people who are part of the group, including the CEO of Mercado Libre.
This new project is a decentralized identity validation platform in which to be part of it, individuals must “Formalize your human identity”, according to what was explained by Santiago Siri; in the ecosystem Ethereum by means of the realization of a video where of the person where it is certified that he is really a human being and that he does not have a duplicate identity.
Regarding the making of the video, Siri commented that when the humanity test is done, the video is necessary since “at some point our faces have evolved throughout history to be an instrument of recognition between people at a distance.”
This system was born after multiple attempts that were initially unsuccessful due to hacking. The project was inspired by the token verification systems in mid-2018, where the idea of ​​bringing that verification to the human arose later..
Proof of Humanity operates jointly with the Democracy Earth UBI Token, aiming to relate the identity of the users with this token, although it should be clarified that it is not only directed towards UBI but as such to the entire Ethereum environment and the addresses that individuals registered in said ecosystem may have. This alliance was called “a very suitable marriage, a very good match” by panelist Federico Ast.
One of the most immediate strategies used to attract attention and get new individuals to enter and register on the platform of Proof of Humanity It is the fact that once users are part of the platform they have direct access to the UBI Token, which they can collect in their wallet digital. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the objective of this way of operating is that in the future it can combat poverty.
According to the concerns and criticisms that the panelists have received regarding the relationship between privacy and the digital wallet of each user, Santiago Siri explained that “someone’s privacy is more of a spectrum (…) I understand that the use of the blockchain or that one’s privacy is under one’s control, there is no third party that can handle privacy for one (…) us from the interface of Proof of Humanity we put all kinds of warnings, we recommend using a fresh account (…) an address that does not have a history of previous transactions in order to guarantee greater privacy ”.
To close the meeting, the panelists gave their go-ahead to the project and argued that although there are still things to improve, the system is operating efficiently and that it is in view of developing systems that operate in a better way and that are not with a high deposit level so that more people can enter without any problem without losing the fact that they cannot register fake profiles.
In addition, they achieve a relevant universal basic income scheme as well as they are committed to reaching a refugee center to provide some help to people who are in refugee situations and to all those who can support them.
