Blockchain, renewable energy and the new business models

Energy is a topic of discussion in Rodrix Digital’s “Decentralized Debate”.

From electricity usage estimates for mining cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum to offsetting the carbon footprint, energy is at the heart of blockchain discussions and use cases. And it is on this topic that Claudia Mancini, founder and editorial director of Blocknews, and Germano Sales, CEO of Grupo Light, the company that created the Light Defi token to tokenize energy that he plans to produce in the Northeast, spoke with Rodrix Digital, in his program “Debate Decentralizado”, on his YouTube channel.

The conversation addressed issues such as energy consumption for bitcoin mining, the renewable energy scenario in Brazil. Furthermore, the conversation dealt with new business models on the blockchain and the use of carbon credits. There are initiatives, for example, to register Renewable Energy Contracts (RECs) on the blockchain. Companies buy these contracts to offset their carbon footprints. As the registration is on blockchain, it gives more security to trading. To learn more about it, just watch the program through the link below.
