Bitso announced this Monday, 18, the hiring of Thales Araújo de Freitas as the company’s new country manager for Brazil.

According to the company, Thales will be responsible for driving Bitso’s strategy in the country, working with the digital financial ecosystem to expand the usability, accessibility and security of crypto assets, and accelerate the financial inclusion of Brazilians.

“I feel extremely happy and honored to be able to lead the company’s operations in the country, together with a talented and enthusiastic team that is growing every day. My mission is to work to amplify the adoption of this revolutionary technology with the highest quality and safety standards, establishing a relationship of trust with customers, partners and the population as a whole”, commented Freitas.

With extensive experience in the financial market and in the B2B and fintech technology sector, Thales has been building, for over 15 years, a career in the capital markets, having specializing in business development and management in emerging segments.

Graduated in Economics at Ibmec, he worked as Country Manager at Global66 and, previously, he accumulated leadership roles in companies such as Citibank and HSBC, operating in different Latin American countries and in the United States.

In recent research, the American exchange Gemini indicated that Brazil leads the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the world, along with Indonesia.

In both countries, 41% of respondents reported ownership of cryptocurrencies ahead of nations such as the United States, where 20% of people claimed to have the item, and the United Kingdom, which reached just 18%.

The study also shows that almost half of the world’s cryptocurrency owners bought the digital assets for the first time in 2021 and that 79% of them opted for the resource due to the long-term investment potential. Around 30,000 people from 20 countries were interviewed between November last year and February this year.

KRYP.TOOLS in Brazil

Who also announced news for Brazil was KRYP.TOOLS, a platform for managing portfolios and investments in crypto assets, which received a contribution of R$ 2 million from the national angel investment association BR Angels Smart Network, to expand operations in the country.

According to Mauricio Zanetti, CEO of KRYP.TOOLS, the platform is a ‘Swiss Army knife’ of the cryptocurrency world and brings together several features in one place and without charging hidden fees.

“Now, with the contribution of BR Angels, we intend to scale the technology with improvements in AI, include new functionalities, in addition to structuring the sales and marketing areas, offering the most complete global solution for cryptoassets. At the moment, the visualization of the portfolio of investments and market prices are in dollars, but we intend to include other currencies soon”, says Zanetti.
