NFTs: Northeast Soccer Cup starts auction at Binance. Image: Binance.
A Northeast Soccer Cup started today (17) selling video game bids in the format of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This type of collectible is something pioneering among football teams. And it’s possible because “NordestĂŁo” holds the rights and video production for the games, something rare in the country, says Binance. The sale is on the stock market’s NFT marketplace.
Also known as the “Lampions League”, the competition has 16 teams.
The sale of NFTs for the Copa do Nordeste is by auction and the bid starts at 1BUSD, which is equivalent to approximately R$5.6. There will be eight videos of goals, saves and celebrations that were marked in the history of the competition.
“The Northeast Cup has always been innovative. Last year, we did the world’s first broadcast on TikTok. Now, we are very excited to debut NFTs video collectibles in football competitions”, said Mauricio Portela, partner of LiveMode, partner of Liga do
North East.
“The Northeast Cup is currently one of the most important competitions on the Brazilian calendar. It is a privilege to have this innovative Lampions collection in the Binance NFT marketplace portfolio”, said Mayra Siqueira, general manager of Binance in Brazil.
Thus, the Northeast Cup joins other teams and even the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that found in the NFTs a new way of raising funds and engaging fans. Binance recently announced a similar partnership with Santos.
