Colombian mining takes a step towards NFTs

The Colombian National Government signed a mining contract with the National Mining Agency which was registered as NFT web-based blockchain GoChain. This opens the doors to a new horizon for the mining sector in which their mining projects in the country can be tokenized.

The National Mining Agency of Colombia invited the mining sector and other interested Colombian sectors to ExpoDubai, an event that is held in order to relate and position on the map different world markets that have the three characteristics of the expo that are: opportunity, sustainability and mobility.

In this event, the National Government of Colombia through the National Mining Agency announced about the signing of the contract that is specifically directed towards the Strategic Mining Area that will be registered as NFT under the blockchain technology of the GoChain network which is 100% compatible with Ethereum, which gives the free step of being able to use the Tuffle, MyEtherWallet and OpenZeppelin tools.

“It is a great honor to work with the Colombian Government and our Bogota-based partners to support and help fulfill this bold new vision. This new plan will serve to show the benefits of the blockchain ” GoChain CEO Henry Ines commented, according to what was published by the Legal Affairs web portal.

The objective of this contract is to allow the mining environment to be able to tokenize its projects and therefore have a public book that contains the keys and which will be protected by blockchain technology.

For the creation of the contract, the National Mining Agency worked with Backer Mckenzie, which is a brand of law firm dedicated to dealing with cases from the economies of different markets. Likewise, Lexia Abogados was also part of the team.

Colombia is a country that has shown great adoption of the blockchain environment in general. Both at the level of cryptocurrencies, in the mining of digital assets, including at the educational level regarding the technology blockchain with institutions dedicated to educating the Colombian community to the new digital era of the crypto environment.

NFTs are also a characteristic factor of the cryptographic world, and in Colombia cases have mostly been reported in which artists dabble in NFTs with digital art. For example, we have the digital art collections of the singer Maluma and the singer-songwriter Shakira that this year entered the market for the first time. As well as the digital artist Camilo Restrepo with the collection “A TonOfCoke”.

Although the cases that have been known within the region are not in the same line of contracts as is the case of the National Government with the National Mining Agency of Colombia since, as the president of the National Mining Agency said according to Legal Affairs: “Colombia is going to be the first country to have this type of content.” Similarly, digital art collections are creations that have become known and that contribute to the acceptance of the blockchain world.
