Barn of great artists and musical genres such as Bossa Nova, Brazilian music seems to be in harmony with the relationship between artists and fans, undergoing worldwide transformation by the development of disruptive technologies, such as blockchain and the web3. A revolution that, in addition to engagement, grows at the pace of transparency in the receipt of musical royalties by artists.
One of the enthusiasts of this transformation is the singer and songwriter Zeca Baleiro, who decided to be part of the Tune Traders, a Brazilian platform for music royalty tokenization launched in March of this year with the objective of guaranteeing the revenue of singers, musicians and composers through their works. The platform includes royalties from songs that became famous in the voices of Maiara and Maraisa, Bruno and Marrone, Zé Neto and Cristiano, among other great names in the sertanejo, in addition to the track Travo, by Paulo Novaes in partnership with the duo Anavitória, which scored 500 thousand plays in a month on Tune Traders.
To Exame, Zeca Baleiro said that he decided to join the project to better understand the potential of technology in the relationship with fans and how it works, explaining that:
“I decided to accept the invitation because I like to have new experiences. As an independent artist, I’m interested in knowing about the possibility of broadcasting/commercializing my music through the new tools that the digital world offers. I was able to understand a little better how the music tokenization process works and this opened my eyes to increase the relationship with my fans, think about new projects, etc.”
Regarding non-fungible tokens (NFTs) musicals, the pioneering spirit in Brazil was due to the All be Tuned platform, created with a focus on independent artists by the CEO and founder of fintech Moeda Semente, Taynaah Reis, who is also a singer and became the first artist to sell copyright on a platform in Brazil. In this case, the royalties from the song “Tudo Bem”, which was the kick-off for the adhesion of other songs, from several artists that integrate the platform.
Taynaah Reis said that the initial idea was to use technology to minimize the impacts caused by the pandemic on artists’ income because of the ban on concerts and presentations.
“All BeTuned is a web 3.0 platform and label. Our mission is to inspire independent talent and organizations to leverage their digital presences and build new communities”, explained the CEO of All be Tuned, who was also responsible for the NFTs of the Multishow Award and the Nosso Camarote, which took the sambadrome in Rio, to Marquês de Sapucaí, for the Decentraland metaverse at Carnival 2022.
An initiative by composer, screenwriter and filmmaker Carlos Gayotto, Tune Traders allows to connect distributors and associations within the blockchain environment, share revenue on-chain and make payments, allowing investors to be part of this environment, as reported by the Cointelegraph Brazil.
