On May 25, it was announced that Thunes and MOVii, both payment platforms from Singapore and Colombia respectively, they joined alliances to internationalize digital payments in the latter from MOVii’s wallet.
With this new union, Thunes, being a global platform, will help MOVii, which although it is an application with a great reach in Colombia, now cross digital borders and thus expand its community.
“We are excited to partner with MOVii to strengthen our fast-growing network in Latin America. Previously, a cross-border payment to Colombia, using traditional banking networks, could take several days and involve hidden fees and a lack of transparency. Now, the 3 million of MOVii users can receive Colombian pesos around the world as quickly and cost-effectively as a local transaction. This convenience brings significant benefits to consumers, entrepreneurs and businesses,” said Thunes VP Network Development Daniel Carvajalino.
With this internationalization of MOVii, in addition to having multiple benefits for the application as such, they are also facing at least 3% of Colombia’s GDP since, only in the remittances made, there is an approximate value of USD 8 billion .
Due to its speed and efficiency, MOVii during the pandemic has managed to add high numbers of users who support and make use of this digital wallet giving a vote of confidence to the new financial digital era.
“(…) Thunes global network covers 127 countries, which means that residents of Colombia will now be able to receive money transfers from their family and friends residing around the world,” said Hernando Rubio, CEO and co-founder of MOVii.
