Wine Subscription Club includes Bitcoin as a form of payment

Last Tuesday (19), the Wine subscription club announced that it included Bitcoin (BTC) as a payment option on your application, which will happen by receiving a QR Code by customers who opt for the cryptocurrency through the company’s platform.

Wine has become a truly omnichannel company [diversification of sales channels], creating a unique shopping experience, without communication noise and with minimal friction throughout the entire purchase process. Just as users can use the app to make purchases in the physical store and by reading the QR Code on the labels to include the products in the cart, they will make the payment via Bitcoin. Just select the products, finish and pay directly by cell phone quickly and easily, explained the company’s technology director, Clayton Freire.

The implementation of BTC is the result of a partnership between Wine and one of the fintechs of the SCF Brazil group, Redecoin, and is part of the company’s strategy to diversify sales channels to unify the customer experience between the physical store and online. According to Wine, the option of payment via Bitcoin will initially only be possible through the app, but should be incorporated into the other channels by the end of the year.

We know that consumers are increasingly connected and cryptocurrencies are already part of their daily lives. We decided to invest in this innovation to bring an even more complete experience to our partners and customers and also because we believe that, in the near future, this form of payment will be frequent”, said Clayton, adding that seven out of ten purchases at Wine’s physical stores are made via the App.

The partnership was also celebrated by the CEO of Grupo SCF Brazil, Armin Altweger:

We are proud to sign this partnership, because we unite the traditional wine market that is transforming due to Wine’s omnichannel revolution, with the innovative market of crypto payments. Our aim is to popularize the use of cryptocurrencies in the daily lives of Brazilians and this partnership puts us on the right path to achieve this goal.

As cryptocurrencies make their way into the wine market, the wine market is also making their way into the cryptocurrency market. That’s what the Penfolds brand did at the end of last year when announcing a partnered with BlockBar to launch a limited edition NFT linked to a barrel of Penfolds Magill Cellar rare made from the 2021 crop, as reported by the Cointelegraph Brazil.
