Natus System launches token to maintain private environmental reserves

A new token linked to the conservation of the environment began to be negotiated by Sistema Song of Criptoati. The initiative belongs to owners of private environmental reserves (PPAs), entrepreneurs and environmentalists from several countries, including Brazil. On air since August 18, the system sells the Natus Unit (NTU) of five PPAs that have been certified for the project.

Each Natus token represents the preservation of 1 m2 conserved area and the environmental benefits it generates. This includes water, biodiversity and carbon stock. In total, the five areas have 9,179,500 m2. The value of each token is US$1 (about R$5.50). Today, 50% of Brazil’s native vegetation still conserved is on private property. Therefore, the group decided to bet on tokens for PPAs.

In June of this year, law 14.119/2021 came into force, establishing the National Policy on Payment for Environmental Services (PNPSA). One of their guidelines is to pay for environmental preservation services. In this way, deforestation and unwatered commercial uses are avoided. But, it is not a blockchain data logging system and it is public.

System creates Natus tokens for each area that enters the system

One of the co-founders of the system is Laercio Machado, president of the Pantanal Biosphere Reserve and coordinator, in Brazil, of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Network. In addition, it also has a PPA. Another co-founder who also has a PPA in the project is Flávio Ojidos, a lawyer specializing in environmental law. (PPA owner).

Ranulfo Paiva Sobrinho and Karla Córdoba-Brenes are also co-founders, specialists in blockchain and the creation of cryptoactives with an environmental and social focus. These co-founders also participate in Cambiatus, an open source platform for communities that want to create their tokens.

To enter the project, the owner of a PPA can request registration in the system, which will assess the environmental benefits of the area. Once there is proof that there is conservation and generation of benefits in the PPA, the issuance of NTUs equivalent to the property takes place.

Of the five PPAs currently in the project, two are located in the interior of São Paulo, in the Atlantic Forest biome, and one in Florianópolis, also in the Atlantic Forest Biome. There is also one in Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Pantanal Biome, and one in Manaus, in the Amazon Biome.

The project is similar to others like the one of Moss and yes AmazonasCoin. Thus, it looks for those who want to buy to help the environment or those who invest in environmental causes.

Token owners can see details of the environmental benefits of PPAs

On the Natus System website, it is possible to see environmental details of these properties, as well as the environmental benefits they generate. Includes include, for example, the collection of which PPA is a part, list of its environmental benefits, name, location and biome.

The buyer also receives a link to access the environmental inventory and satellite imagery. Each collection enters the market on Environment Day, June 5th. The company is Arara Azul.

Thus, part of the profits from the sale of NTUs goes to the PPAs, so that they can continue to conserve the areas. The project also provides a bonus for those who find investors in the project. The percentage varies from 1% to 30% on the number of NTUs the nominee acquires.

A next step will be to send digital art in the format of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to those who purchased Natus. They are designed by artists linked to environmental preservation. And for 2023 the launch of the Natuscoin coin is expected, which will go to those who buy NTUs.
